Founded in 1894, the Parmananddas Jivandas Hindu Gymkhana stands as the pioneering Hindu sports institution in India. Its roots trace back to 1878 when young students from Elphinstone High School, inspired by the Parsi community's cricketing success, established the "Hindu Cricket Club." This initiative marked the beginning of organized Hindu participation in sports in Bombay. Over the years, the gymkhana became a cornerstone of athletic excellence, fostering cricket and other sports among the Hindu community.
